Description

The Visiting Researcher program is a human resource capacity development program based on the mobility of researchers through collaborative research, development, assessment, and/or application of science and technology at BRIN, for professors or expert researchers from universities, research and development agencies, and/or industry overseas.

Objectives

To improve the competence of human resource researchers so as to contribute to improving the national research and innovation climate through increasing the number of publications in high-reputation scientific journals, innovative products, and establishing national or international research collaborations.

General Requirements

1. Indonesian citizens or foreign nationals who have affiliation with overseas institutions;
2. has completed the doctoral program education;
3. have experience and expertise relevant to the field of expertise and proven by evidence of a track record (portfolio) of research and innovation activities;
4. have a scopus h-index level of a minimum of 5; 
5. prepare an activity plan proposal during the implementation of the Visiting Researcher program;
6. obtain permission from the origin institution;
7. for foreign nationals, they are required to obtain an immigration permit in accordance with the provisions of the regulations; and
8. signing the commitment document for the implementation of the Visiting Researcher program.

Note: Applicants are strongly suggested to contact the Research Group Coordinator at BRIN beforehand and agreed on the activity plan.

Program Implementation Time

• - The Visiting Researcher program duration is a minimum of 1 (one) month to 3 (three) months.
• - Visiting Researcher activities can start no earlier than 2 months after the registration is submitted, considering the time required for foreign citizen permit administration.
• - For Visiting Researchers whose activities will take place in 2025, activities can begin no sooner than March 2025. The statement letter for visiting researcher participants will be issued in the same fiscal year.

Fundings

Participants of the programs would be given living allowance incentives. The amount of the incentives is determined in accordance with the provisions of the regulation. (see details in the guideline).

Output

The Visiting Researcher is expected to produce several collaborative outputs, including a research grant proposal, letter of agreement, or knowledge sharing activities such as seminars/ workshops/ scientific forums, and at least one scientific publication in a highly reputable global indexed journal. The publication should be produced within a year.

Rights and Obligations

Visiting Researcher participants have the right to:

1. Get incentives according to the regulations.
2. Using equipment and facilities in accordance with the scope of research activities carried out by the host research group.
3. Have the opportunity to build a collaborative network with researchers in their field of expertise.

Visiting Researcher participants have the obligation to:

1. Engaging in collaborative activities within your field of expertise at the Research Center, Science and Technology/Education Area, Scientific Conservation Area, or Field Station Area, on a full-time basis as specified in the Decree of the Deputy for Human Resources for Science and Technology, National Research and Innovation Agency.
2. Participants must tap attendance on the information system every working day at the beginning and end of working hours.
3. Participants are required to upload the output achievement roadmap at the beginning of the program.
4. Participants are required to upload reports on activities or research progress on the information system at the end of each month.
5. Participants are required to upload the final report on research activities and evidence of research output on the information system at the end of the Visiting Researcher program implementation.
